3 Things I learnt this month
- This month I wrote an article on my substack titled From Capital-Light to Capital-Hungry: Can Hyperscalers Sustain the AI Infrastructure Arms Race? My key takeaway was – this is a $5-7 trillion dollar arms race, hence the balance sheets and free cash flows of Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google and Oracle could look dramatically different in 2030.
- I recently heard Jeff Bezos’ TED Talk from 2007 where he compares the California Gold Rush with the Internet Gold Rush. Its funny because these two gold rushes have a lot of parallels with the current AI gold rush. I have uploaded a short clip on my YouTube channel here – its worth the 2 minute watch.
- Lex Fridman’s podcast with James Holland is a WWII gold-mine because its a 3-hour long deep dive into the operational and logistical challenges of the war. An interesting side note was that Germany’s wide-spread adoption of the radio (highest penetration in the world at the time) was key for Hitler’s ideology getting proliferated in German households and minds. This also has parallels with social media platforms used for political elections in recent years. History rhymes!
